Biography

Bob has over thirty years experience in the healthcare field.  After graduating from West Texas State University, he served in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps from 1965 to 1976.  While on active duty, he received formal training in personnel management, medical records management, and as a surgical assistant. He has a wide range of experience in both public and private hospitals, including teaching hospitals and mental health facilities.  Bob has been a Director of Human Resources as well as a Vice President for Operations, and has served as the chairman of an Institutional Review Board overseeing research activities. Bob was on the startup management team for two hospitals, and was certified by a national leadership development corporation to provide management training; that training was provided to staff members of multiple hospitals in different states. He has worked in a healthcare search firm and has been a member of the Benefit Management Committee of a large national health system.  After working in hospitals for several years, Bob made a transition into managing physician medical practices.  He was the administrator of a large general surgical practice and a regional cardiology practice, and was the Director of Practice Operations for a multi-specialty group of over one hundred physicians.  More recently, he has been a private consultant in the areas of medical practice management and healthcare compliance, and has worked with physicians and dentists as well as specialty hospitals.  He has been an instructor in the MBA/MD-MBA Health Organization Program and the physician Executive MBA Program for several years, and has taught Personnel Management, Health Law, and Business Law in other universities. He has been a member of the local board of directors for the American Red Cross.

Bob completed law school at Texas Tech University and was licensed to practice law in Texas, although he chose to continue to work in the healthcare field instead of actively practicing law.  He is a member of the American Health Lawyer's Association, the Texas Bar Association, and the Health Care Compliance Association.
