HOM 5307: Healthcare Network, System and Organizational Operations

 
 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

  1. The course presents selected concepts and methods from management practices that are useful in healthcare settings. Topics concerning policy, organizational structure, finance, budgeting, managerial epidemiology, human resources, negotiation and others are presented.


COURSE OBJECTIVES

  1. The objective of this course is to provide students interested in healthcare organizations an opportunity to learn fundamental concepts and methods from management practices.  In addition, the course provides an opportunity for the student to practice the use of these methods for leadership decision making.


COURSE TEXTS

  1. You will be responsible for reading the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on a daily basis. Hard copies are available in the Business Administration building, or you can access it electronically using your eRaider information through a link on the HOM website (www.hom.ba.ttu.edu). Students will be expected to contribute opinions about the WSJ contents during class.


  2. Additional required reading assignments are available through WebCT.


SPECIAL NOTES

  1. BulletThere are three days where students will be asked to dress in business attire.  Refer to the schedule for specific dates.

  2. BulletAttendance is required and any absences must be approved ahead of time. Seating will be assigned.

  3. BulletWhen your cell phone interrupts the class, you will bring the class a snack the following week.
