COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course integrates and reviews of all M.B.A. core courses. It will include a comprehensive exam over all M.B.A. courses; evaluate individual management and leadership skills;.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course constitutes a concluding and integrative course for the HOM MBA. It is intended to provide an over-arching and synthetic frame for the disaggregated whole of the HOM MBA. It is a particular challenge in that the university expects that students in this course not only pass, but excel… evidenced by the requirement of no less that a B to graduate. It is therefore the expectation that students will not only demonstrate mastery of the material taught in this course, but also of the entire coursework outline that has brought you to this moment.
Put another way, graduates of this course are expected to have mastered the material necessary to pass the ACHE Board of Governors Exam.
The Board of Governors Exam is structured into 10 areas:
1.Governance and Organizational Structure
2.Human Resources
3.Finance
4.Healthcare Technology and Information Management
5.Quality and Performance Improvement
6.Laws and Regulations
7.Professionalism and Ethics
8.Healthcare
9.Management
10.Business
As a result, this course will be mapped similarly – with a particular focus on Governance and Organizational Structure, Laws and Regulations, Professionalism and Ethics, Management and Business.
Students will have developed a set of exercisable behavioral skills that enable an individual to function effectively in a top level/responsible management position.
This list of skills includes effective interpersonal communication, active listening, giving and receiving feedback, presentations, interviewing, team building and trust building, conflict management, resolution of ethical issues, situational team leadership and group facilitation.
